I'm Lauren Rich
graphic designer + illustrator + Letterer behind one nine design co.
I knew from an early age that I would end up working in the creative field as an adult. I never imagined that that would mean being an entrepreneur someday.
Growing up, I loved art and music, drawing and singing, specifically. I had BIG dreams of being a famous pop singer, so that passion took center stage. However, as I got older, I realized that being a visual artist was much more attainable, so I began to focus more on that passion. But don't get me wrong, I still belt it out on my own time!
Dream hard. Work harder.
Fast forward to college, when I married the love of my life, Cam, in 2011. Becoming a military wife at the ripe old age of 19 definitely made for an atypical college experience, but I LOVE that man...worth it!
Eventually, after years of growing and developing not only my artistic skills, but also, myself, I earned my BFA in Illustration and Communicative Arts from the Savannah College of Art and Design in 2013.
I then took some time off because I was burnt out creatively and I needed a real job...because you know, student loans.
Something was missing in my life.
That 9-5 was draining and unfulfilling, and I needed something more. Cam and I decided to start our family. On January 9, 2015, our greatest adventure became a reality when Cuinn Alexander Rich was born.
I discovered that being a mommy would be my #1 passion from then on, so I quit my day job and became a stay-at-home-mom.
I didn't lose myself when I became a Mom. I found myself.
I've grown leaps and bounds throughout my journey of motherhood. Yes, I still question my abilities and choices as a parent constantly, but the conviction I have for my children is endless and fierce. That love reignited my creativity.
I founded One Nine Design Co in April of 2016, as a small hand lettering business, with the hopes of growing into something much bigger.
Dreams don't work unless you do.
In the past two years, I've hustled to maintain a balance, not always successfully, between my growing family and this growing business. I've learned what works and what doesn't and I continue to invest into furthering my knowledge and skills as an artist and designer.
We also welcomed our little songbird, Lark Ashley Rich, on July 18, 2017. Raising two kids and a business is incredibly challenging. But my family is WHY I never quit.
Thank you for stopping by. I hope you find something of value, whether it be a service or product, my artwork, or a blog post. I'm just glad you're here!
